Montrose Woman Dies in Lee County Accident

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office and Montrose Fire and Rescue responded to a motor vehicle accident involving a single vehicle on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 1:44 p.m. in Montrose, IA.

The investigation revealed that Marilyn Florence Marshall, age 73, of 307 Spruce, Montrose, IA. pulled into a driveway at 406 Cedar in Montrose, IA. The vehicle, a 2001 Toyota Corolla, became lodged on a driveway culvert.

Mildred Jean Rubey, age 95, of 406 Cedar, Montrose, IA. was a passenger in the vehicle. Marilyn F. Marshall did not know that Mildred J. Rubey had exited the vehicle and walked behind the vehicle.

Marilyn F. Marshall reversed the vehicle in an effort to remove the vehicle from the culvert and unwittingly backed over Mildred J. Rubey, causing serious injuries. Mildred J. Rubey died at the Fort Madison Community Hospital from injuries sustained in the accident.

Lee County EMS Ambulance assisted at the scene.
