A Mount Pleasant man will not be charged for fatally shooting his father Sept. 4. 46 year old David Bittner was warned to stop and leave after he kicked down the door to daughter’s house in Lockeridge. Bittner’s adult son and estranged wife were in the house at the time. Bittner was known to carry guns and when he reached behind his back, his son shot him. When authorities arrived they found Bittner unresponsive with a gunshot wound to his stomach. He died later at the Jefferson County Hospital. The Jefferson County attorney determined the shooting to be justified.
