Southeast Iowa School Election Polling Information

TODAY IS SCHOOL ELECTION DAY! The school election ballots throughout southeast Iowa will include a request for voters to continue a physical plant levy at an average of 20 cents per $1,000 valuation for up to 20 years (est. $10.57 per year for owner of a $100,000 home, after rollbacks). SCC has had a voter-approved physical plant bonded levy since 1990. A 60% supermajority is required to continue a bonded levy.

An equally big question is WHERE & WHEN TO VOTE?? Details are provided below BY COUNTY:

Voters must vote within their K-12 school district – Polls are open 12 Noon to 8 PM
Mt. Pleasant School District: Cottrell Gym in the Old MP High School, near the Library, 307 E. Monroe
New London: at New London Community Center, 112 W. Main Street
Winfield: at Winfield Community Center
Salem: at Salem Community Center
Wayland: at Wayland Community Center

DES MOINES COUNTY: open 12 Noon to 8 PM –

Keokuk Nazarene Church – 3116 Plank Road
Learning Center in Keokuk – 500 N. 20th Street
Heritage Center in Keokuk – 508 Main Street
Keokuk Public Library – 210 N. 5th Street

Keokuk polls opened at 7 AM and close at 8 PM – so all Keokuk voters have to vote at polls

But, because North Lee County polls don’t open until 12 Noon, Central Lee and Fort Madison School voters can vote 8 AM to 11 AM at those schools or at the Auditor’s office, and then, after 11 AM, they can only vote at their polling locations shown above, which open at 12 Noon.
