Charles D. L. Parker, 72, of Douds died at 11:17 A.M. Monday Sept. 16, 2013 at home. He was born April 12, 1941 at East Prairie, MO to Charles Parker and Vesta Vaughn. He had been married to Yevonne Thomas and later married Evelyn Haynes March 4, 1976. She died Jan. 13, 1991. He married Kathy Riley August 4, 1999. She survives. Also surviving are 4 sons, Charles Parker of East Prairie, MO, Donald Joel Parker of Fairfield and Derek Haynes and Alan Riley both of Douds, 4 daughters, Melodie Parker of Glenwood, Michelle Parker of East Prairie, MO and Angela Gire and Cassie Mann both of Douds, 17 grandchildren, a great-granddaughter, 3 brothers, Cecil Roberts in Texas, Carl Roberts in Missouri and Don Roberts of Milan, IL and 4 sisters, Jewel Clark, Edna Elliott and Leavida Willis all in Missouri and Helen McRoy in Kentucky. His parents and a daughter, Monica Parker preceded him in death.
Charles had been a logger, taught truck driving at Indian Hills Community College, Ottumwa and was a self-employed trucker.
Funeral services will be at 2 P.M. Wednesday Sept. 18, 2013 at Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds, Pastor Phil Campbell officiating. The family will receive friends 1-2 P.M. Wednesday prior to the service. Cremation will follow the service. Memorials to the family may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 14841 Ferris, Douds, IA 52551.
