Mt. Pleasant ran well at their first cross country meet of the season.  The Williamsburg Invitational was held yesterday, the MPHS girl’s team was 3rd and the boys 4th.

In the girl’s race Williamsburg won the team title with a 36 score, Vinton-Shellsburg was 2nd 55, the Panthers put up a 70 score for 3rd out of 9 teams.

Ellie Conrad finished 5th in 16:56, Beth Wells 10th 17:16, Chloe Haffarnan 12th in a 17:32 time.  Natalie Ita was 19th 18:07, Emma Ludwig 24th 18:23.

Vinton won the boy’s division with a 58 score, Mid prairie was 2nd at 59, Williamsburg was 3rd 73 and Mt. Pleasant was 4th out of 11 teams scoring an 87.

Freshman Panther Logan Murray was the overall winner in the boy’s division running a winning time of 17:03, Jack Pieper was 14th in 18:24, Josh Beelman was 17th in 18:37, Henry Pham 27th 19:25 and Ryan Hutchison 28th in 19:27.

Mt. Pleasant will run at Pella Saturday for their next completion.

Muscatine won the IMS girls cross country invitational with Mediapolis running 5th, Iowa City High won the boy’s, Mediapolis was 6th, Winfield Mt. Union 7th.

L&M girls and boys cross country teams won their own invitational by finishing first in both divisions.  Holy Trinity girls finished 3rd and the HTC boys were 4th.

 

#1 ranked Holy Trinity Catholic won both their matches in a volleyball triangular hosted by West Burlington.  The Crusaders beat the host school 25-4, 25-4, 25-10 and beat Fairfield Maharishi 25-2, 25-0, 25-4.  Michaela Foecke had 21 kills and 5 blocks.  Meggie Meyer had 21 aces, Kristen Brinck had 11 digs.

Davenport West defeated Burlington 3 games to none.

 

The IWC men’s and women’s basketball 2013 golf outing is coming up on September 20th at 11 a.m. at the Mt. Pleasant Golf and Country Club.  This is a 4 person best shot tournament to benefit the IWC basketball programs.  Cost is $70 per golfer, and that includes dinner.  There will be various contests and games for golfers to win nice prizes like grills, professional game tickets, golf equipment and other items.  If you would like to participate sign up by September 14th with Kurt Moon at Brown’s Shoe Fit in Mt. Pleasant or call 385-2931.  There are also opportunities for hole sponsors, and raffles prize donations.

 

Southeast Iowa Regional Planning Commission is holding its annual golf outing (four person best shot) as a fundraiser for the Great River Housing Trust Fund. This event will be held at Flint Hills Municipal Golf Course in Burlington on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 with Registration and Buffet lunch at 11:00 am, and Tee Off at 12:15 p.m. The Cost is $50 per golfer and includes: Buffet Lunch, 18 holes of golf and cart; awards for top teams, and chances to bid on silent auction items. The Great River Housing Trust Fund promotes affordable housing in Southeast Iowa through owner-occupied rehabilitation, first time home buyer assistance, and development partnerships. Whitetails Unlimited is sponsoring the Mt. Pleasant Banquet on Thursday, September 19, at Manning Hall, 601 So. Jackson Street, Mt. Pleasant. This special event will feature a two-meat dinner, auction, and prizes with a wide array of products such as firearms, outfitter packages, hunting and outdoor related equipment, artwork, and collectibles only available at WTU events. Proceeds from this fundraising event will go toward projects that uphold WTU’s mission.

The social hour begins at 5:15 p.m. with dinner at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $40 each, or $20 for a spouse or child. Ticket order deadline is August 29, and tickets will not be sold at the door.
