Mt. Pleasant fell to Ottumwa in non-district football action on Evans Field Friday night 46-3. The Bulldogs built up a 26-0 lead at halftime, tacked on 7 more points in the 3rd quarter and 13 in the 4th. M.P. got on the board for the first time since the 8th game of the 2012 season in the 4th quarter when Zoom Gwamna hit a 32 yard field goal. Otherwise the Panthers struggled offensively again not being able to move the ball against a very quick Ottumwa defense. Isaiha Cox scored 3 Bulldog touchdowns and their kicker Justin Vonderhaar kicked field goals of 18 and 40 yards. MPHS is now 0-2 and have 1 more non-district game this Friday night when they host Solon on Evans Field, the Spartans lost 38-0 to power house Iowa City Regina. Ottumwa plays Des Moines East in their first Central Iowa Metro League game.
The Mt. Pleasant freshmen rolled over Ottumwa 54-12 led by Dshundric Foster and Pat Canby each with 3 touchdowns. Quarterback Brock Wilson threw a touchdown pass.
Thursday night the Ottumwa JV defeated the Panthers in Ottumwa 33-0.

The IWC men’s soccer team had a rough go against the Truman State University Bulldogs on Friday afternoon. The Tigers were outmatched from the early going, ending with a 0-11 loss to the Bulldogs.
The Tigers gave up three goals in the first 16 minutes of play, and went to halftime with a 0-6 deficit.
The Bulldogs continued their ferocious attack in the second half, controlling the game and shutting out the Tigers. Iowa Wesleyan was unable to get off a single shot in the game, while the Bulldogs took 35 shots, putting 20 of them on goal.
Caleb Winston made nine saves on the night in goal for the Tigers, while allowing the 11 Bulldog goals.
The loss drops the Tigers to 0-2 to start the season. The Tigers will travel to Robert Morris University-Springfield on Sept. 11 for their next match as they look to get the first win of the season. Last season, the Tigers finished their season against Robert Morris-Springfield with an 8-1 win.
