Another Pedestrian Hit in Lee County

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call on October 28, 2013 at approximately 11:30p.m. The caller reported a person was walking in the middle of the northbound lanes in the 3400 block of Hwy. 218, wearing dark clothing. Deputies searched the area and were unable to locate the individual.

A call was received shortly after midnight on October 29, 2013 that a vehicle struck a male pedestrian who was walking in the 3500 block of Hwy. 218 in the southbound lanes.

The investigation revealed that Leslie Isabell Deguzman, age 41, of 1104 Cherry Street, Keokuk, Iowa was travelling southbound on Hwy. 218 and struck a subject later identified as Harley Ray Price, age 19, of 3333 270th Ave., Montrose, Iowa. Price was wearing a black jacket, black T shirt and blue jeans. Price was taken to Keokuk Area Hospital by ambulance and transferred by AirEvac to the University of Iowa Hospitals for treatment of serious injuries. DeGuzman was transported to Keokuk Area Hospital by private vehicle.

Jackson County Fire and Rescue and Lee County EMS Ambulance assisted at the scene.
