Delbert “Bert” Koller, 82, of Donnellson, Iowa succumbed to burn injuries on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at 5:55 p.m. at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics from injuries suffered in a fiery accident on Tuesday, September 25, 2013 on his farm near Donnellson.
Born March 22, 1931 in Donnellson, Iowa, the son of Walter and Mildred (Krebill) Koller. On September 21, 1957 in Fort Madison, Iowa he married Shirley Maxine Logue.
Survivors include his wife Shirley of Donnellson, one son David Koller of Redondo Beach, California, one sister-in-law Dolores Koller, one niece Rita Hellweg, two nephews Stanley and Kenneth Koller and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Leland.
Bert graduated from Donnellson High School in 1949. He served in the Air Force from 1951 to 1955 and was active in the American Legion. He was a member of the Zion Mennonite Church in Donnellson, Iowa. Bert was a lifelong farmer and had worked for the Mt. Hamill Elevator.
Friends may call after 12:00 noon on Sunday, October 13, 2013 at the Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in Donnellson. The family will meet with friends from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. that afternoon at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 14, 2013 at the Zion Mennonite Church in Donnellson, Iowa with Pastor Marcia Yoder-Schrock officiating.
Burial will be at the Zion Mennonite Cemetery in Donnellson.
