Sharon Grace Hamman, 71, of Mt. Pleasant, IA, died Thursday October 17, 2013 at Mercy Hospital in Mason City, IA after suffering a fall at the Grotto in West Bend, IA.
A visitation will be Monday 2 – 4 at Boman Funeral Home, 613 Ohio in Webster City, IA. A memorial service will be held Thursday October 24 – 1:30 PM at First United Methodist Church in Mt Pleasant with Rev. David Bracht-Wagner officiating. Burial will be in the Cass Center Cemetery near Webster City. Online condolences may be directed to www.bomanfh.com. The Kimzey Funeral Home, 213 N. Main St., Mt. Pleasant, is assisting with the local arrangements. Memorials have been established for the Fellowship Cup and the Woodland Park Senior Center of Woodland Park, Colorado.
She was born on November 1, 1941 in Mt Pleasant to Leon & Grace (Stull) Marshall-Abrahamson. Sharon attended school through 10th grade in Mt Pleasant and graduated from Olds High School in 1960. She was educated as a certified med tec. She married Jack Barber. They had four children and divorced in 1983. She and Lyle Hamman were married April 15, 1983. They moved to Colorado in 1985.
She worked in the nursing field. Sharon enjoyed sewing, baking and volunteering her time. She was a member of Dott’s Club and Woodland Park Senior Club in Colorado. In March of this year they moved back to Iowa because of her health. Sharon and Lyle recently became members of the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant after having been members of the Mountain View United Methodist Church of Colorado.
Her family includes: her husband of 30 years; four children George (Alisha) Barber & Jacque (Tim) Lake all of Salem, IA, Sam (Becky) Barber of Belize & Sharon Gail Barber of Salem, IA; nine grandchildren; and sister Cora Glover of Mt Pleasant. Preceding her in death were her parents, her step father, Paul Abrahamson, two brothers (Van & Leon) & sister (Lenora).
