The Iowa Wesleyan College volleyball team lost in 3 sets (20-25, 20-25, 18-25) to Greenville College Tuesday night.

IWC is now 9-17 overall and 5-6 in the SLIAC.

Greenville is now 18-4 overall and 11-0 in the SLIAC.


High School volleyball Tuesday night saw Waco beat L&M in a sweep, Waco ends the regular season with a record of 16-15 after going 3-23 last year.  Ashlyn Hammen broke the school record for assists getting 26 last night to give her 449 for the year.

#12 WMU swept Wapello 3-0, Central Lee swept Harmony, West Burlington swept Van Buren 3 games to none.


Ft. Madison won both the football games with the Mt. Pleasant Middle School 7th grade teams yesterday by identical scores of 20-0.  In the “A” game Rhett Zeglin ran for 31 yards in 5 carries, Zach Beason was 7 of 14 passing for 123 yards, Levi Puig caught 4 of those balls for 98 yards.  Defensively Tate Shull, Corbin Borelli and Rhett Zeglen were the leaders.

In the “B” game Charles Chapman rushed for 32 yards and Jeremiah Mills 30 yards.  Defensively Kalib Wilson, Blake Davis and Tanner Box led the tackling.  Recovering fumbles were-Corbin Borelli, Parker Baugh, Charles Chapman and Tanner box.


The Mt. Pleasant Middle School 8th grade football teams wrapped up their season with wins at Ft. Madison last night.  The “A” team won 28-14, Brady Sartorius ran for 108 yds. and  two touchdowns and passed for two more as he was 7 of 11 for 163 yds.  Joseph Coberly and Colin Mulford caught td passes.  Leading the tackling- Caleb Potts, Maison Ashton, Payton Kelly, Cooper Huckabone and Isaac Kuster who had an interception.

In the “B” game MPMS won 18-6, Keegan Rich ran for 59 yards and scored two touchdowns.  Damien Lorenzo caught a touchdown pass from Rich.  Leading the defense-Joseph Coberly, Dalton Smith, James Lobdell and Bergen Ensminger.  Coberly and Smith recovered fumbles.


Mt. Pleasant High School Panther Gymnasium should be rocking Thursday night when the Panther volleyball team plays host to Ft. Madison in a battle that will determine the Southeast conference champion.  M.P. leads the standings at 6-0, Ft. Madison is 4-1. A Panther win assures them the title with just one match left the following Thursday against Keokuk.  So pack Panther Gym Thursday night and cheer the Panthers onto the title!

In conference play Kelsi Phipps leads M.P. with 52 kills, Brianne Potts has 17 ace serves, Ashley Loving leads in assists with 389, Brianne Potts has 383 digs, Kelsi Phipps has 38 blocks to lead the Panthers.


In Major League Baseball, NLCS action had St. Louis beating the Dodgers in L.A. 4-2, the St. Louis leads the series 3 games to 1. Game 5 will be played in L.A. today at 3:07.

ALCS has Boston leading Detroit 2 games to 1 after the Red Sox won 1-0 yesterday.  Game 4 is in Detroit 7:07 p.m. Tonight.
