Mt. Pleasant High School Panther Gymnasium should be rocking Thursday night when the Panther volleyball team plays host to Ft. Madison in a battle that will determine the Southeast conference champion.  M.P. leads the standings at 6-0, Ft. Madison is 4-1. A Panther win assures them the title with just one match left the following Thursday against Keokuk.  So pack Panther Gym Thursday night and cheer the Panthers onto the title!

In conference play Kelsi Phipps leads M.P. with 52 kills, Brianne Potts has 17 ace serves, Ashley Loving leads in assists with 389, Brianne Potts has 383 digs, Kelsi Phipps has 38 blocks to lead the Panthers.

Keokuk is playing at Washington who has not won a conference match yet.  Van Buren and Cardinal are playing at Davis County.


Another big event tonight is the Southeast Conference cross country meet to be run at Keokuk.  The middle school, JV and varsity teams will be running with the first race at 4:30 p.m.   Mt. Pleasant will be contending for both the girls and boys team championships as well as the individual conference champions also.

The Mississippi Athletic conference is having their conference meet at Bettendorf, Mediapolis is hosting an invitational.


Iowa Wesleyan had a soccer double header yesterday, losing both matches.

Men: Eureka 3, Iowa Wesleyan 1

Women: Eureka 10, Iowa Wesleyan 1

IWC men are now 0-13 overall and 0-5 in the conference.

IWC women are now 1-10 overall and 0-5 in the conference.

The Tiger volleyball team tonight will be playing at MacMurray College.


In Major League Baseball, NLCS action had the Dodgers beating the Cardinals in L.A. 6-4, the Redbirds still lead the series 3 games to 2. Game 6 will be played in St. Louis Friday night at 7:37 p.m..

ALCS has Boston and Detroit tied at 2 games each, after Detroit beat the Red Sox 7-3 yesterday.  Game 5 is in Detroit 7:07 p.m.Tonight.
