Iowa Wesleyan College defeated Westminster College in volleyball in 3 sets (25-15, 25-23, 25-23).

Iowa Wesleyan is now 7-14 overall and 5-3 in the SLIAC.

     Hall of Fame members for Wrestling and Boys’ Basketball have been chosen by the Iowa High School Athletic Association, recently.  The honored athletes and coaches will be presented during the State Tournaments of their respective sport.

     Wrestling hall of fame honorees to be inducted February 22 are Coach – John Siegel, Morning Sun; Wrestlers Joe Corso, Valley, West Des Moines (1971); Pete Bush, Assumption Davenport (1979); Jeff Coltvet, Eagle Grove (1984), and Jeff Harrison, Westwood, Sloan (2000).

     Those being honored in basketball, March 15 include Coaches: Bob Haak of Spencer and Steve Blazek of Atlantic, plus Players: Lloyd Thornburg, Pleasantville (1968); Mark West, Southeast Polk (1977); Jeff Donaldson, Sioux City, North (1983); Robbie Sieverding, Marquette Catholic, Bellevue (1997); and Jeff Horner, Mason City (2002).


In Major League Baseball playoff action Pirates go to St. Louis this afternoon at 4 p.m.

Tampa Bay beat Cleveland last night 4-0


Inclement weather for both race fans and racers forced the postponed of the Midwest Performance Quads, Bikes and Side By Side Challenge at  34 Raceway Saturday, September 28.  The races have been rescheduled for this Saturday, Ocrober 5 with some time changes.

Pit gates will open at 1:00 p.m., grandstands at 2:00, practice 2:30 p.m. and racing begins at 4:00.

Grandstand admission is just $5.00 and kids 10 and under are admitted Free.

How about running in a COLUMBUS DAY 5K In Columbus Junction, Iowa

October 12, 2013 at 8:00 a.m.

Enjoy the annual Columbus Day festivities in scenic Columbus Junction, home of the historic swinging bridge.  Spend the day and witness one of the best small parades in Iowa!  Shop at the many stores and street vendors; or just come to run and enjoy the morning traveling the beautiful shaded streets of Columbus Junction.


The Race: Distance and Course

5K Run/walk.  Start and finish on Main Street, downtown Columbus Junction.  The course will be on city streets with a trip through the park.


Trophy to the male and female overall winner.  Medals to ALL finishers


$10.00 which includes a race t-shirt to each paid participant

Cross Country team members from ANY high school can register for $5.00!!


Participants may register from 7:00 to 7:45 a.m. race day at the SOUTH end of Main St.
