Card Drive for Soldiers

The MPHS Sophomore Student Council is hosting a holiday card drive for wounded soldiers in Afghanistan who are recovering at the Brooke Army Medical Center in Fort Sam Houston, TX.

Unused holiday cards will be collected at the HS until December 6th. The sophomore student council members will write a message of holiday cheer and cards will be sent the week of December 16th. Student Council members are Trevor Bentler, Caitlyn Depriest, Carolyn Lutovsky, Tabby Liechty, Brooklyn Starr, and Dale Taylor.

Sophomore class sponsors Lisa Syfert and April Pforts hope that this will be a way to show appreciation to service members for their sacrifice during this holiday season with a small act of kindness. The public is welcome to participate by donating unused cards to the high school office.

Last year, the program was a huge success with over 1300 cards being sent. This ensured that all the inpatient and outpatient service members received a holiday wish from Mt Pleasant Iowa.
