The City of Wayland will be adding a roadway to their new 59-acre industrial park after having been awarded a grant from the Iowa Department of Transportation in October.
Building upon the success the City’s first industrial park area, which has been completely filled, Wayland’s new Industrial Park East provides a highly-desirable location for new and expanding business. The City is optimistic about the prospects of attracting new companies, which will likely bring new jobs and investment to the area. The roadway project funded by the grant provides even more incentive for business to locate in the industrial park.
The “RISE” grant, short for Revitalize Iowa’s Sound Economy, is a competitive state-wide grant program. The Southeast Iowa Regional Planning Commission (SEIRPC) provides a variety of services to area communities, and assisted the City of Wayland with the grant application and will administer the grant.
Up to $157,472 of grant funds will be made available to assist in construction of approximately 600 feet of new roadway located in the Wayland Industrial Park East. This project is anticipated to be completed by October 2014.
