Dorothy Francene Muntz, 86, of the Keosauqua Van Buren Good Samaritan Center in Keosauqua, formerly of Farmington, passed away at 4:15 A.M. Thursday November 7, 2013 at the Van Buren Good Samaritan Center in Keosauqua.
Born February 1, 1927 at Farmington, Iowa she was the daughter of Bertha Lillian Brady. On December 21, 1946 at Kahoka, Missouri she married Arlet Dale (Bud) Muntz. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include one daughter Carolyn (Bill) Higgens of Keokuk, Iowa, one son Terry Lee (Cindy Meade) Muntz of Vernon, Iowa, one half brother Dale (Carol) Muntz of Farmington, Iowa, one half sister Virginia Steele of Ottumwa, Iowa, one granddaughter Jamie McVeigh, one grandson Scott Linnenburger. Also surviving are eight step-great grandchildren , many cousins, nieces and nephews including Tom (Maria) Muntz and Beth A. Muntz.
She was preceded in death by her mother, husband, aunt and uncle Irvin and Olive Muntz who raised her, a half sister Marilyn Owens and half brother Sidney Stocker.
Dorothy worked at the Bonaparte and Donnellson Sale Barns, Barker Wire and Pioneer Seed Corn. She loved her family and horses. She rode a horse from Fairfield to the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines in 1954. She also enjoyed gardening, house plants, baking and making candy. She was a member of the Red Hat Society.
Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. Monday November 11, 2013 at the Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in Farmington with the family meeting friends from 5-7 p.m.
Her body has been cremated.
There will be no formal funeral service. Burial will be at a later date at the Bonaparte Cemetery.
