Solon eliminated Mt. Pleasant from the Class 4A volleyball tournament trail last night on the Spartans home court 25-12, 25-18, 25-16.  Shay Smith, Taryne Shull and Brianne Holtkamp led in kills and blocks, Ashley Loving in assists and Brianne Potts led in digs.

M.P. ends the year 29-5, #2 ranked Solon goes to the Regional Finals Tuesday at Cedar Rapids Washington against #15 Clear Creek-Amana who beat Fairfield 25-20, 25-18 25-21.

Class 3A Regional semi final action saw Mediapolis sweep Davis County 25-22, 25-18, 25-23.  The Bullettes now move on to play in the Regional final Tuesday night at West Liberty against 8th ranked Mt. Vernon.  The Mustangs won over Camanche in 3 games last night.  KILJ-FM 105.5 and will carry the match live.

Ft. Madison was eliminated from the 4A Regional by Davenport Assumption in a sweep, Marion downed Davenport North 3-0 and will face the Assumption Knights in the Regional final at Tipton on Tuesday.

Burlington was eliminated from the 5A field by Muscatine, the Muskies swept the Grayhounds in the semis last night.  Bettendorf beat Davenport West and will face Muscatine Tuesday at Davenport West in the Regional final.   




 Tonight’s Region #8 Class 1A semi final pairings has Moravia playing at Holy Trinity Catholic KILJ-FM 105.5 and will carry the match live.  Winfield Mt. Union is playing North Mahaska at Sigourney.

Region #7 tonight, New London travels to West Liberty to play Calamus-Wheatland. Bellevue Marquette plays Springville.

Class 2A West Burlington plays Iowa City Regina on the Regals home court.  Durant plays West Branch in the other semi.


High School football playoff action-Class “A”- Lynnville sully plays Monday night at BGM,

Pekin at Lisbon.

In Class 2A area games, Mediapolis will host Bonduarant-Farrar, Mid Prairie is at Albia.

Class 3A Washington Demons play host to Oskaloosa, Williamsburg will play at Pella.


Iowa Wesleyan College is going to be hosting a boy’s basketball youth skills camp this fall in Ruble Arena.  It’s for boys in grades 3rd thru 8th, and will be held November 8th beginning at 8:30 a.m.  Camp will go until 11:30.  Cost of the camp is $25 and that includes a t-shirt, please sign up by November 1st. 

On November 9th a boy’s basketball skills tune up camp will be held in Ruble arena for boys in grades 7 thru 12.  Registration begins at 1:30 p.m. and camp will run from 2-5.  Cost is $25 which includes a t-shirt.
