Iowa Wesleyan College football team lost to the University of Northwestern 42-6 on Saturday in the Tigers’ final game of the season.  Wesleyan got on the board first and led 6-0 on a Trey Todd 3 yard touchdown run, but the Eagles scored 42 unanswered points to grab the win.

The Tigers end the year at 2-8 overall and 2-7 in the UMAC, they tie for 8th in the final conference standings.

 

The quarterfinal round of football playoff action took place around Iowa Friday night.  In Class 2A #4 ranked Mediapolis went to #2 ranked Albia and was edged by the Blue Demons 7-0.  Mepo ends the year 11-1, Albia plays #6 Waukon in the Semi Finals at the UNI Dome next Saturday night at 7 p.m.

BGM beat Pekin in class “A” play 29-8 to eliminate the Panthers, Washington in Class 3A avenged an earlier season loss to Pella beating the Dutch 28-0, Washington will play Solon Thursday night at 8:30 p.m. in the Dome, Solon beat defending state champ Decorah 28-20.

 

The Iowa Wesleyan College women’s basketball team played an exhibition game at Maryville University in St. Louis Friday night.  The Tigers fell 88-47 after trailing 36-25 at halftime.  Leading the IWC scoring were-Whitney Godden with 16 and Karla Vietinghoff with 12

The Iowa Wesleyan men’s basketball team is set to open its season when they travel to Drake University on tomorrow night.The Tigers return eight players from a year ago and have brought in 11 newcomers.  The roster consists of just three seniors and three juniors, while five sophomores and eight freshmen make up the remainder of the Tigers’ 2013-14 roster.

The Iowa women upset #14 Dayton at Carve Hawkeye Arena Sunday in overtime 97-93, Bethany Doolittle led Iowa with 22 points. 

The Lady Hawks beat  U.C. Riverside Friday night in Carver Hawkeye Arena 70-56, Samantha Logic scored 28.

Sunday the Iowa Hawkeye men beat Nebraska-Omaha 83-75, Aaron White scored 20 points to lead the come from behind win.

Friday night the Iowa Men beat UNC-Wilmington 82-39, Jarrod Utoff hit for 14 points, Peter Jok scored 11.  That was the 500th men’s game played in Carver Hawkeye.

 

The 23rd ranked Iowa State women’s basketball team beat North Dakota 84-55, Hallie Christofferson scored 32 points to lead the “Clones.”

The Cyclone men beat UNC-Wilmington 95-62, Naz Long led ISU with 26 points as he hit 8 3-point field goals.                             

Tickets for the Holy Trinity Catholic state volleyball tournament match on Wednesday night at 6 p.m. against Guthrie Center will go on sale at the Holy Trinity Catholic Jr/Sr High & Elementary Buildings on today from 8:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.  Tickets will be $8 each.  The “Meet and Greet” for the volleyball state contenders as well as Cross Country State Qualifier, Allison Sporkman will be tonight at Aggie’s on the Square (formerly West Point Knights of Columbus Hall) from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Tickets will also be available for purchase.  KILJ-FM 105.5 and kilj.com will be recording our meet the players program tonight and air it Tuesday evening at 6 p.m.  KILJ will also be carrying all the Crusaders matches from the state tournament Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

The 2014 ninety-seventh annual Iowa State USBC Bowling Association Tournament is coming to Mt. Pleasant and Burlington February 1st thru May 25th. Mt. Pleasants Iris bowling Center will host the team event and the Burlington King Pins Bowling Center will host the singles and doubles bowling.

The 4th Annual Fort Madison Day at Carver Hawkeye Arena is set for Sunday, December 22, 2013.   Iowa takes on Arkansas – Pine Bluff.

The Fort Madison Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassador Club has worked with University of Iowa Athletics to secure premium seating for our group.  On Thursday, November 14th at 7:00 AM, tickets go on sale at the Partners offices located at 614 9th Street, Fort Madison.

The first 150 children’s tickets will be available for $5 each (ages 18 and under).  The first 150 adult tickets will be available for $10 each. 

 

 

Iowa Wesleyan College for the 7th year in a row will host the Iowa Wesleyan College High School girls basketball jamboree.  The event will be held in the IWC Gym on November 19th beginning at 6 p.m.
