The Mt. Pleasant High School football team held their awards banquet last night, special award winners were: All District Team:

Carson Remick

Justin Dilks

Ben Canby

Honorable Mention:  Austin Smith, Spencer White, Jackson Kelley and Dustin Amos. 

Team Awards:

Outstanding Lineman: Jackson Kelley

Defensive Player of the Year: Carson Remick

MVP: Carson Remick

Brotherhood Award: Tony Cristoforo and Josh Larson

Panther Award: Colten Mertens

Sportsmanship Award: Noah Brown

A special thank you goes to Cooper Pullis and Brevin Wilson who were the ball boys for the team this year.

 

 

The Mt. Pleasant Middle School 8th grade girls played Ft. Madison last night.  In the A GAME:

Ft. Madison defeated the Mt. Pleasant 7th grade boys “A” team 44-30, Rhett Zeglen and Jacob Stuckerjuergen each had 8 points.

M.P. did win the “B” game 36-3, Trace White led the Panther scoring with 14 points.

The Iowa Wesleyan men’s basketball team is set to open its season when they travel to Drake University tonight. The Tigers return eight players from a year ago and have brought in 11 newcomers.  The roster consists of just three seniors and three juniors, while five sophomores and eight freshmen make up the remainder of the Tigers’ 2013-14 roster. 

Tickets for the Holy Trinity Catholic state volleyball tournament match on Wednesday night at 6 p.m. against Guthrie Center are on sale at the Holy Trinity Catholic Jr/Sr High & Elementary Buildings on today from 8:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.  Tickets will be $8 each.  KILJ-FM 105.5 and kilj.com will be bringing you our meet the players program tonight at 6 p.m. brought to you be Ann Menke CPA.  KILJ will also be carrying all the Crusaders matches from the state tournament Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Albia plays #6 Waukon in the Semi Finals at the UNI Dome next Saturday night at 7 p.m.

Washington will play Solon Thursday night at 8:30 p.m. in the Dome, Solon beat defending state champ Decorah 28-20.

 

The 2014 ninety-seventh annual Iowa State USBC Bowling Association Tournament is coming to Mt. Pleasant and Burlington February 1st thru May 25th. Mt. Pleasants Iris bowling Center will host the team event and the Burlington King Pins Bowling Center will host the singles and doubles bowling.
