The Mt. Pleasant Middle School 8th grade girls basketball team played at Edward Stone Middle School in Burlington Monday. 

“A” game:  Edward Stone   32

Note:  No “B” game was played due to a lack of numbers at Edward Stone

 

Mt. Pleasant Middle School 7th grade boy’s basketball teams hosted Edward Stone Middle School.

 

In the “A” game Rhett Zeglen scored 19 points and Jacob Stuckerjurgen scored 8 points to lead them to a win.  In the “B” game M.P. won with Trace White and David Marcus had 8 points each.

 

 

 

 

Iowa Wesleyan College for the 7th year in a row will host the Iowa Wesleyan College High School girl’s basketball jamboree.  The event will be held in the IWC Gym tonight beginning at 6 p.m.

Pairings have New London vs Columbus Community at 6 p.m., WMU vs West Burlington at 6:40, Waco plays Mediapolis at 7:20.  At 8 p.m. Mt. Pleasant plays L&M and the half of action has Danville tangling with Wapello.  

 

Former Mt. Pleasant head football coach Bob Jensen will receive the Walt Fiegel Coaching with Character Award Presented at the halftime of the Class 4A football Championship game, Friday, November 22 by one of his former players Beau Hampton, of ACE Fundraising. 

This award was created in 2003 after the death of Sioux City East Coach Walt Fiegel who was also the Executive Director of the Iowa Football Coaches Association.  It honors an individual who embodies the high character, integrity, concern for kids, and service to the profession that were modeled by Coach Fiegel.

Coach Jensen ended a 24-year football career at Mount Pleasant. He retired with a record of 159-77. He gave 40 years to the profession, embodying the qualities of service to the kids, the school and community, and the coaching profession.
