Mediapolis came from behind to defeated Bondurant Farrar at Archer field in Mediapolis last night by a score of 27-22 in the Class 2A playoffs.   Bulldogs now travel to Albia Friday night to play the Blue Demons who beat Mid Prairie last night 26-16.  After throwing 3 first half interceptions Mepo quarterback Drew Foster led his team 65 yards in four plays with just over a minute to play for the winning score, he hit Seth Beitz with a 19 yard pass.

Other playoff scores of interest:  BGM beat Lynnville Sully 35-7, Pekin won over Lisbon 27-6, Washington rolled over Oskaloosa 42-7, Pella beat Williamsburg 14-0, Washington plays at Pella Friday night in the quarter finals.

 

In the NFL Monday night football game the Bears beat the Packers 27-20.  

 

The 2013 Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union Class 3A Regional Volleyball finals will be played tonight.  Mediapolis plays in the Regional final at West Liberty against 8th ranked Mt. Vernon.  KILJ-FM 105.5 and kilj.com will carry the match live.

#2 ranked Solon goes to the 4A Regional Finals at Cedar Rapids Washington against #15 Clear Creek-Amana. Marion will face the Davenport Assumption Knights in the Regional final at Tipton.

The 5A field will have Bettendorf facing Muscatine at Davenport West in a Regional final

Jordan Ashton, Mt. Pleasant 2012 State Championship point guard, played in his first collegiate game on Sunday for the D2 Northwest Missouri State University Bearcats.  His team defeated Graceland University of Lamoni, Iowa by a score of 95-57. As a redshirt freshman, Jordan played nine minutes in the contest and went 2-4 from the field for a total of five points.  He had two assist and one defensive rebound.  The Bearcats travel to Marshall, Minnesota this weekend to play in a tournament at Southwest Minnesota State.  They will face Upper Iowa on Saturday and Southwest Minnesota State on Sunday.

 

Iowa Wesleyan College for the 7th year in a row will host the Iowa Wesleyan College High School girls basketball jamboree.  The event will be held in the IWC Gym on November 19th beginning at 6 p.m.  The teams will play two quarters of basketball using licensed officials.  Here are the pairings:  Columbus Community vs New London, Winfield Mt. Union vs West Burlington, Waco vs Mediapolis, Mt. Pleasant plays L&M at 8 p.m. with the final matchup having Danville play Wapello.

 

 

Iowa Wesleyan College is going to be hosting a boy’s basketball youth skills camp this fall in Ruble Arena.  It’s for boys in grades 3rd thru 8th, and will be held November 8th beginning at 8:30 a.m.  Camp will go until 11:30.  Cost of the camp is $25 and that includes a t-shirt, please sign up by November 1st. 

On November 9th a boy’s basketball skills tune up camp will be held in Ruble arena for boys in grades 7 thru 12.  Registration begins at 1:30 p.m. and camp will run from 2-5.  Cost is $25 which includes a t-shirt.
