Holy Trinity Catholic swept Winfield Mt. Union in the Class 1A volleyball regional at Panther Gym last night by scores of 25-6, 25-14, 25-7.  Mikaela Foecke led the Crusaders with 21 kills she also had 4 ace serves, Maria Vonderhaar had 31 assists.

Winfield Mt. Union was led by Shelby Therme with 4 kills and 10 digs.  The lady Wolves end the year 25-11. Top ranked Holy trinity Catholic 45-4 goes onto state next week and will play at 6 p.m. Wednesday against unranked Gutherie Center 23-6.

New London got off to a good start in their regional final against Springville in Iowa City last night winning the first two games, but then the momentum shifted across the net and Springville swept the last three games a captured a state tournament berth.  Leading the Tigers Emily Parks had 20 kills and 30 digs, Jorgi Krieger had 18.  Sarah Holtkamp had 47 assists. Springville will play #2 ranked Janesville Wednesday in the first round at state.

The 4th Annual Fort Madison Day at Carver Hawkeye Arena is set for Sunday, December 22, 2013.   Iowa takes on Arkansas – Pine Bluff.

The Fort Madison Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassador Club has worked with University of Iowa Athletics to secure premium seating for our group.  On Thursday, November 14th at 7:00 AM, tickets go on sale at the Partners offices located at 614 9th Street, Fort Madison.

The first 150 children’s tickets will be available for $5 each (ages 18 and under).  The first 150 adult tickets will be available for $10 each. 

 

 

Iowa Wesleyan College for the 7th year in a row will host the Iowa Wesleyan College High School girls basketball jamboree.  The event will be held in the IWC Gym on November 19th beginning at 6 p.m.

Iowa Wesleyan College is going to be hosting a boy’s basketball youth skills camp this fall in Ruble Arena.  It’s for boys in grades 3rd thru 8th, and will be held November 8th beginning at 8:30 a.m.  Camp will go until 11:30.  Cost of the camp is $25 and that includes a t-shirt, please sign up by November 1st. 

On November 9th a boy’s basketball skills tune up camp will be held in Ruble arena for boys in grades 7 thru 12.  Registration begins at 1:30 p.m. and camp will run from 2-5.  Cost is $25 which includes a t-shirt.
