Randolph “Randy” Lee Andrews

Randolph “Randy” Lee Andrews, 57, of West Point, Iowa passed away at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at the Fort Madison Community Hospital Emergency Room in Fort Madison, Iowa.

 

Born May 31, 1956 in Keosauqua, Iowa the son of Cecil Wayne and JoDell Jane (Yoder) Andrews. He married Sandra Walker at Sharon Presbyterian Church in rural Farmington. They later divorced but remained close friends.

 

Survivors include one son Joshua Andrews of Fort Madison, Iowa, one daughter Jessica Andrews (Joe Diaz) of New London, Iowa, two grandsons Jordan and Jonah, one brother Robert Andrews of Hamilton, Illinois, one sister Julie M. Hayes of Moorhead, Iowa, special friend Sandy Burgess of Montrose, Iowa and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandmother Marie Yoder whom he was very close to, one sister in infancy, one sister Jane Snyder and one nephew Rodney Wallman.

 

Randy worked maintenance for the Fort Madison Historical Society which he enjoyed very much. He served in the United States Air Force from 1974 to 1976 in Vietnam. He was a member of the Holtz-Geers American Legion Post 668 of West Point. Randy enjoyed fishing and hunting with his buddies and mushrooming. He donated blood to the American Red Cross as often as he could. He also loved the river and was an avid NASCAR, WWE, White Sox and Minnesota Vikings fan.

 

 

Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 28, 2013 at the Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in West Point where the family will meet with friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. that evening.

 

Following the visitation his body will be cremated.

 

In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his memory.
