Mt. Pleasant swept Keokuk girls and boys in high school basketball Saturday in games postponed from Friday night because of snow.  The 11th ranked Panther girls team won 43-34, Kelsi Phipps and Taryne Shull each scored 15 points.  The Panthers host Ft. Madison Friday night and Central Lee Saturday afternoon.

The M.P. boys tasted victory for the first time this season with a 52-50 win over the Chiefs.  Zach Mulford had 14 points and Brandon Sanchez added 12.  The Panthers are now 1-4 overall and 1-1 in the conference, they host Centerville Tuesday and travel to Ft. Madison Friday, KILJ-FM 105.5 and kilj.com will carry both those games live.

 

The Iowa Wesleyan College men’s and women’s basketball teams both picked up wins against Blackburn College on Saturday.

The IWC women defeated Blackburn 82-64.  IWC had 5 scorers reach double figures, led by Whitney Godden with 19 points.

The IWC women are now 5-1 overall and 3-0 in the SLIAC.

The Tiger men defeated Blackburn 74-69.  The Tigers again had 5 scorers reach double figures, led by Ramon Taylor with 15 points.

The IWC men are now 2-5 overall and 1-2 in the SLIAC.

 

Mt. Pleasant High School wrestlers lost all five duals they wrestled in the Grinnell Dual Tournament Saturday.  Match scores were:  ADM 45 M.P. 36, Bondurant-Farrar 49 M.P. 27, Grinnell 42 MPHS 37, Wilton 49 Mt. Pleasant 18, East Marshall 48 Mt. Pleasant 21.  Colton Mertens and Justin Dilks went 5-0 in their matches at 120 and 220 lbs.

Individual leader for Mt. Pleasant:
Sara Smity was high roller with a 304
 JV Girls Record is now 3 – 0.
 
*JV Boys Team Results:
No team scores kept because no teams had enough bowlers for a team score,
Russell Heerdt was high roller for the Panthers with a 363 score.
 JV Boys Record is now 1 – 0.
 All of the teams will bowl another home meet next Saturday, 12/21/13, at Iris Bowling Center vs. Fairfield

 

 

 

The Iowa Hawkeye football team found out their bowl destination, the Hawks will play in the Outback Bowl in Tampa, Florida on New Year’s Day against LSU.  The game will kickoff at noon Iowa time, LSU is 9-3 and the Hawks 8-4.  KILJ-FM 105.5 will carry the game taking the air at 10 a.m.

The BCS National Championship game will be played at Pasadena, California January 6th with undefeated 13-0 Florida State playing once beaten 12-1 Auburn.

 

The 4th Annual Fort Madison Day at Carver Hawkeye Arena is set for Sunday, December 22, 2013.   Iowa takes on Arkansas – Pine Bluff.

The Fort Madison Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassador Club has worked with University of Iowa Athletics to secure premium seating for our group.  On Thursday, November 14th at 7:00 AM, tickets go on sale at the Partners offices located at 614 9th Street, Fort Madison.

The first 150 children’s tickets will be available for $5 each (ages 18 and under).  The first 150 adult tickets will be available for $10 each.
