The Mt. Pleasant Panther boy’s basketball team that is 1-4 after winning for the first time Saturday against Keokuk, will get another opportunity to win tonight when they host Centerville in Panther Gymnasium.  The Big Red are 2-2, led by Mike Starcevich and Kolton Gonnerman each scoring just under 17 points a game, Garrett Faris adds 12 points per game.  Starcevich has hit 11 three point field goals.

Mt. Pleasant is led by Zach Mulford at 13 points a game, the only double figure scorer in the lineup, he has made 12 three point field goals. 

The JV game begins at 5:15 p.m. and the varsity game will follow.  KILJ-FM 105.5 and will carry the varsity game live at 6:45 p.m.

The latest Associated Press Iowa High School basketball poll is out for this week.  Class 4A is topped by defending champion Iowa City West.  Harlan is #1 in class 3A, the Ft. Madison Bloodhounds are ranked 10th.  Western Christian is the leader in class 2A.  Newell-Fonda tops class 1A, Iowa Mennonite School is ranked 5th, Van Buren and Danville are getting votes but not enough to be in the top 10.



A 61 yard field goal was kicked by Justin Tucker of the Baltimore Ravens with :38 seconds left to play, it split the uprights and gave the Ravens an 18-16 win over the Detroit Lions in Monday night football.


The Iowa Hawkeye football team will play in the Outback Bowl in Tampa, Florida on New Year’s Day against LSU.  The game will kickoff at noon Iowa time, LSU is 9-3 and the Hawks 8-4.  KILJ-FM 105.5 will carry the game taking the air at 10 a.m.
