The Iowa Wesleyan College men’s basketball team picked up their second consecutive win on Wednesday night, defeating Illinois Institute of Technology 76-57.  The Tigers move to 3-5 overall after the win.

The Tigers used a balanced team attack as five Tigers scored in double figures, led by Chris Martin’s 18 points. 

IWC returns to action on January 4, 2014 when they travel to Vermillion, SD to take on the University of South Dakota.


The Mt. Pleasant Panther wrestling team travels to Ft. Madison tonight for Southeast conference wrestling action against the Bloodhounds and nonconference action against West Hancock, Ill.  The Panthers are coming off a dual team tournament at Grinnell Saturday where they dropped five duals.  Two wrestlers went undefeated on the day, Colton Mertens and Justin Dilks.  This weekend M.P. will go to Pella for a tournament.

OTHER AREA WRESTLING:  Burlington, Muscatine and North Scott at Pleasant Valley.  Pekin and Van Buren at West Burlington-Notre Dame-Danville.  Lone Tree and Wapello wrestle at Waco.  L&M and Mediapolis go to Columbus Community.  New London and Highland at Cardinal of Eldon, Washington wrestlers travel to Keokuk.


The Mississippi Athletic Conference will look different for football this fall.  Davenport Assumption is going to be moving down to class 3A to compete and that will leave nine teams in the MAC for football.  Two other Catholic schools that have been in class 4A competition also have moved down the 3A for the next two years, Dubuque Wahlert and Cedar Rapids Xavier.


The Iowa Hawkeye football team will play in the Outback Bowl in Tampa, Florida on New Year’s Day against LSU.  The game will kickoff at noon Iowa time, LSU is 9-3 and the Hawks 8-4.  KILJ-FM 105.5 will carry the game taking the air at 10 a.m.
