Even if you haven’t received your flu shot yet there’s still time….and the Iowa Department of Public Health encourages you to do so. They say it’s the best protection again flu.
Henry County Community Health Director Travis Johnson reminds people that the vaccine is safe and saves lives. He says “healthy people, including healthy children and young adults, can get very ill and spread the flu to others. By getting the vaccine, you are protecting yourself and those around you.” It is especially important if you have regular contact with people more vulnerable, including babies, children with asthma and the elderly. Johnson reports that the number of people with the illness is starting to pick up.
Henry County Community Health expects to receive more flu vaccines by the end of the week to be available for next week’s Immunization Clinic. Vaccinations are provided every Wednesday and Thursday from 1 to 4 pm. Cost of the vaccine is $30 for adults.
