Ronald D. Fraise, Sr., 71, of Fort Madison, Iowa passed away 3:20 p.m. Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at the Donnellson Health Center.
Born April 22, 1942 in Fort Madison, Iowa the son of Anthony and Clara (Hawkins) Fraise. On July 29, 1963 he married Leila Elizabeth Strayer at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in West Point, Iowa. She preceded him in death on July 15, 2012.
Survivors include two sons Ronald Fraise, Jr. of Fort Madison, Iowa and Joe Fraise of Fort Madison, Iowa, four brothers Raymond (Lila) Fraise of Burlington, Iowa, Ralph (Betty) Fraise of Farmington, Iowa, Glen (Cheryl) Fraise of Argyle, Iowa and Alfred Fraise of Farmington, Iowa, two sisters Annette Jones of Ottumwa, Iowa and Ruth Ann Myers of Gladstone, Illinois and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Leila, one son Joseph, one brother Melvin and two sisters Josephine and Esther.
Ronald was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in West Point. He owned and operated Fraise Brothers Logging, was a guide and outfitter in Idaho for nine years before moving back to Iowa to farm. Ronald enjoyed hunting, playing euchre and visiting with family and friends.
Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 3, 2014 at the Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in West Point, Iowa where the family will meet with friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. that evening. A parish rosary will be held at the funeral home at 6:30 p.m.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 4, 2014 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in West Point with Father Dennis Hoffman officiating.
Burial will follow at the Calvary Cemetery in West Point.
