The Iowa High School Athletic Association has announced the class 3A boys basketball district tournament assignments.  The Mt. Pleasant Panthers will be in District #12 with Fairfield, Ft. Madison and Keokuk.  The District #11 teams that will be involved in the substate are:  Grinnell, Pella, Washington and Williamsburg.

The MPHS boys basketball team upped their record to 6-7 with a 77-62 win at Eddyville-Blakesburg-Freemont last night.  Dustin Amos had 18 points to lead the Panther scoring.

Mt. Pleasant won the JV game 78-30.

Tonight the Panthers 6-7 host Muscatine who has a 4-7 record.  JV teams play at 6 p.m. varsity action will follow, KILJ-FM 105.5 and will broadcast the varsity game at 7:30 p.m.

OTHER SCORES:  Mediapolis girls beat Highland 84-49 Darby Massner had 45 points and 9-3 point field goals.

Holy Trinity Catholic boys beat Cardinal 67-19, West Burlington beat Maharishi boys 71-38

West Burlington-Notre Dame-Danville beat Pekin in wrestling 45-18 but lost to Van Buren 48-25.23

The latest Associated Press boy’s high school basketball poll for Iowa has only 1 S.E. Iowa team ranked.  Van Buren is ranked 6th in class 1A, LeMars Gehlen Catholic tops that class.  Class 2A is led by Western Christian, Class 3A Harlan is #1, Ft. Madison dropped out of the top ten after losing to Keokuk last week.  Dubuque Senior is #1 in class 4A.


The Associated Press major college women’s basketball poll has Iowa State ranked 20th, UCONN is #1.

In the men’s poll Iowa is ranked 10th and Iowa State 16th, Arizona is #1.
