Mount Pleasant defeated Fairfield in Southeast Conference wrestling 48-36, Panthers winning matches were:

285: Jackson Kelley won by forfeit, 120 lbs-Colton Mertens pinned Bailey Jones in 2:30. 126: Conner Eads  pinned Charles Heisel in 4:30. 132: Tyler Lanphier  pinned Bailey Kemp in 0:27. 138: Blake Wickham won by forfeit 145: Tyler Davis won by forfeit 152: Alex Lanphier pinned Mitchell Taglauer in 0:34. 220: Justin Dilks pinned Brett Scott 3:31.

Mt. Pleasant Middle School 8th grade boys basketball team tangled with Ft. Madison, in the “A” game M.P. won 45-23, Colin Mulford had 13 points, Brady Sartorius added 12.

 Ft. Madison won the “B” game 25-24, Nick Steffens scored 7 points.

There will be one 8 man football team in S.E. Iowa, Harmony will once again play a varsity program after dropping it the last two year.

The Mt. Pleasant Panthers play basketball in Keokuk tonight, a lot of basketball.  The freshman boys, JV girls and boys teams and the varsity teams all clash with the Chiefs.  The freshman and JV boys will play at Cardinal Stritch Gym, the rest of the games are in Wright Field House.  KILJ-FM will broadcast the varsity girls and boys games beginning at 6 p.m. tonight.

A one-time fly-tying instruction class taught by local expert Dan Peterson at the Oakland Mills Nature Center will be held on January 30, 2014, at 6:30 p.m. It is open to the public at the cost of $15.00 per participant. Three flies will be tied that night and participants will take them home. All materials will be supplied and is included in the cost. Vices and tool kits are available for classroom use only. Participants need not bring anything. Maximum 10 participants. Minimum age: 14 years old. Deadline to sign-up and pay for the fly-tying session is January 28th.

Mt. Pleasant Middle school wrestlers will be traveling to Keokuk on Monday January 27th to make up their meet that was postponed on January 14th.
