Faculty recital at Iowa Wesleyan College

Margaret E. Runaas, M.M., instructor of music at Iowa Wesleyan College, will perform a recital with tenor Stephen Rodrigues-Pavao Saturday, February 8 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel Auditorium on the Iowa Wesleyan College campus in Mount Pleasant.

The program will feature Gerald Finzi’s song cycle A Young Man’s Exhortation, with poems by Thomas Hardy, and opera arias by Massenet, Puccini, Mozart and Gounod.

Stephen Rodrigues-Pavao is an accomplished recitalist and opera singer. In recital he has sung art song such as Schumann’s Liederkreis, Britten’s Serenade and many other works. As an opera singer, he has sung roles from Puccini’s La Boheme, Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor, Verdi’s Falstaff, and others. Mr. Rodrigues-Pavao studied music at Lawrence University and earned his Master of Musical Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.

Margaret Runaas, pianist, joined the Iowa Wesleyan College faculty in the fall of 2012, where she teaches courses in applied piano, piano pedagogy, music theory and sight singing and serves as the staff accompanist. She holds degrees from the University of Wisconsin at Madison and Wartburg College.

Mrs. Runaas and Mr. Rodrigues-Pavao have collaborated since 2011.

The concert is free and open to the public.
