Get Free Tax Help

Written by on February 3, 2014 in News

Income tax preparation and electronic filing will be provided at no cost every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 2 to 4 pm at the Fellowship Cup, 203 N. Jefferson in Mt. Pleasant. AARP Foundation Tax Aide is offered in conjunction with the IRS and is the nation’s largest free, volunteer-run tax counseling and preparation service. Help is available for low to moderate income taxpayers, especially those 60 and older. Every volunteer tax counselor completes an IRS developed training course in tax preparation and passes a test before giving assistance to the public. You do not need to be member of AARP to use this service. The complexity of the return determines whether or not a taxpayer can be served. Taxpayers are helped on a first come first served basis. You must bring the following information:
Copy of last year’s income tax returns and photo id
Social Security cards or other official documentation for yourself and all dependents
Unemployment compensation statements
W2 forms from each employer, 1099R forms from pensions and annuities
SSA 1099 form showing Social Security benefits
All 1099 forms showing interest, dividends, sale of assets, miscellaneous income etc.
If you have questions or would like more information call 319-3854-4983.
