Dr. James Raymond Eads

Dr. James Raymond Eads, 59, of rural West Point, Iowa passed away at 5:40 p.m.,
Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at his home in rural West Point.
Born July 2, 1954 in Akron, Ohio the son of James Coleman and Esther Ellen (Dobbins)
Eads. On May 14, 1977 he married Nancy Sue Overton in Donnellson, Iowa.
Survivors include his wife Nancy Eads of West Point, one daughter Katharine E. (Michael)
Warehime of Frederick, Maryland, one son James T. (Ashley) Eads of West Burlington,
Iowa, his parents James and Ellen of Flossmoor, Illinois, two sisters Karen (Quin) Shannon of
Oceanside, California and Nancy Tucker of Peotone, Illinois, two aunts Kathleen Swander
of West Burlington, Iowa and Sara Brown of Warminster, Pennsylvania, one niece, four
nephews and three cousins in New Jersey.
He was preceded in death by his brother Michael Eads, four grandparents, two uncles
and one brother-in-law.
James was raised and attended elementary school and graduated from high school in
1972 in Park Forest, Illinois. He graduated in 1976 from Iowa Wesleyan College with a
Bachelor of Arts degree in English-British Literature with Teaching; he earned a Master’s
Degree in Special Education from Truman State University; he earned a Specialist in
Education Degree in 1991 from Truman State University; and in 2000 he earned the
degree Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Iowa. James liked hobbies and crafts
(archery, sewing, embroidery), teaching Scouts and Church campers, singing and
listening to music of many kinds.
Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 28, 2014 at the Schmitz-Lynk Funeral
Home in Donnellson where the family will meet with friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
that evening.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2014 at the Schmitz-Lynk
Funeral Home in Donnellson with Pastor Dean Moberg officiating.
His body has been cremated and burial will be held at a later date at the Clay Grove
Cemetery north of Donnellson.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his memory.
