Girls class 1A Regional basketball tournament play got underway last night.  A game you heard on KILJ was New London beating Harmony.  Samantha Kootz led the Tigers with 14 points, Addie Lounsberry had 11 and Frankie Johnson 10.  New London will host Sigourney on Tuesday in 2nd round action, Harmony ends the year with an 0-19 record.

Waco beat Holy Trinity Catholic 39-26, Waco goes to Burlington Notre Dame Tuesday for their next game.  Winfield Mt. Union had a bye last night and Tuesday will host Keota who beat Lone Tree last night 61-51.

Class 3A Regional play begins Saturday night.  4th ranked Mediapolis will open up tournament play at home against L&M KILJ-FM 105.5 and will carry the game live beginning at 7 p.m., with a win they would advance to host either Central Lee or Mid Prairie who meet at Central Lee in the first round. 

Class 2A Regional action Saturday has Danville hosting West Burlington on February 15th and Wapello hosting Columbus Community.  Iowa City Regina will play the Wapello-Columbus winner on the 18th of February.  The Danville vs West Burlington winner go to Highland for the next round.




MPHS freshman boys played at Keokuk last night and won 74-55, leading scorers Brock Wilson 25, Ryan Moutrie 18.  Play tonight at Washington at 4:45 p.m.

The JV boy’s team fell to 8-9 with a 51-38 loss to Keokuk. Nathan McConnell and Kincaid Mitchell led the scoring with 15 and 14 points respectively.  



The Mt. Pleasant Middle School 7th grade girls played at Burlington Thursday.

The Middle School 8th grade boys played host to Aldo Leopold Thursday.  In the “A” game MP won 63-16, Brady Sartorius scored 27 points, Colin Mulford had 15.  “B” game Panthers won 44-17, Damian Lorenzo and Nick Steffens scored 10 points each.

The Iowa Wesleyan Tigers are encouraging fans to wear white for their game home games on Saturday against Blackburn College for a “White Out.”  The women’s game tips off at 1:00pm with the men’s game to follow at 3:00pm.
