SPORTS FEBRUARY 19, 2014

The Mt. Pleasant high School Boys Bowling Team won the District Championship and qualified for the State Bowling Championships in Des Moines next week.

The Panther Girls Bowling Team finished in 2nd place and did not qualify for state but will send Tasha Glover to compete in the individual competition.

The Panther boys rolled a 2070, led by Clayton Sammons who rolled a 479.  Keokuk won the girls district title with an 1862 score, MPHS was 2nd with a 1758.  Tasha Glover rolled a 405 to lead M.P.

 

The Mt. Pleasant Panther boys basketball team fell to Marion on the Indians home floor last night 62-55, after trailing 38-31 at halftime.  Dustin Amos led the Panthers with 16 points.  M.P. ends the year with a record of 9-12 and will open up tournament play next week at Keokuk against the Chiefs.

The JV team ended their season 8-11 with a 49-43 loss to Marion. Beau Parkevich scored 12, Spencer White added 9, Nathan Mcconnell and Keegan Pullis scored 8 points each.

Iowa Wesleyan College women defeated Eureka 65-51 in Ruble Arena last night.  Dakota Flesner scored 15 and Jana Meister 13.

IWC is now 19-3 overall and 14-1 in the SLIAC.

Men’s Basketball

Duane Lee led IWC with 16 points and 15 rebounds.

IWC is now 6-16 overall and 3-12 in the SLIAC.
