Genevieve A. Runyon, 90, of Bloomfield died at 10:43 P.M. Monday March 24, 2014 at Ottumwa Regional Health Center. She was born September 10, 1923 in Cantril to Raymond and Birdie Scott Randolph and married Leslie B. Runyon on February 14, 1942 at Memphis, MO. He died January 5, 1987.
Genevieve lived most of her life in Lebanon on the farm with her husband until they retired and moved to Keosauqua in 1970. Following her husband’s death she moved to Bloomfield in 1989. She was a member of the Drakesville United Methodist Church, volunteer at the Keosauqua, Bloomfield and Stockport senior centers and had taught country school in Davis and Van Buren Counties.
Surviving are a son, Ronald Runyon (Pam) of Eldon, a daughter, Carol Ann Birchmier (Dennis) of Bloomfield, five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, a step grandchild, a step-great-grandchild and a sister, Catherine Balmer of Bloomfield.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Pauline McNabb and a granddaughter, Kimberly Renee Runyon.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Saturday March 29, 2014 at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua with Rev. Donna Olinger officiating. Visitation at the funeral home will open at 2 P.M. Friday with the family present from 5-7 P.M. Burial will be in Fellows Cemetery, Keosauqua. Memorials to the Bloomfield Library or Hospice of Davis and Wapello Counties may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 201 North Pine Street, Bloomfield, IA 52537
