The MPHS girls track team ran indoors at Iowa City Tuesday and won one event. Hannah Becker, junior high jumper won that event AT 4’11”. This is the first time ever that MPHS has won an event at this indoor meet. Kelsi Phipps finished 2nd in the hurdles, followed by Leslie Taylor in 3rd and Hannah Becker in 5th. Mary Wester finished 5th in the shot put throwing 34’11”.
The MPHS boys track team will run indoors in Iowa City Thursday.
The Iowa Wesleyan College softball team won two games on their spring break tour to Myrtle Beach.

The Iowa Wesleyan College baseball team fell to 0-3 to start the year after losing both games of a doubleheader Tuesday. The Tigers lost 2-1 and 6-3 to Houghton College (NY) at the Russmatt Invitational in West Haven, FL.
The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) announced the Winter All-Academic Team, which consists of members of both the men’s and women’s basketball teams in the conference. The Tigers were well represented, as seven Tigers earned the honor of being named to the All-Academic Team this winter.
In order to earn the honor, student-athletes must hold a 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher, be a sophomore or older in academic standing, and have been enrolled at their current institution for at least one full year.
The IWC women’s team was impressive, as six members of the Tigers’ conference championship team were named to the list. Those members include Jana Meister, Kara Carter, Karson Orrick, Lauren Grubb, Dakota Flesner, and Jacey Hartweg.
The IWC men’s team was represented on the SLIAC All-Academic Team by Joe Lennon.
Beginning tonight at 8:30 p.m. KILJ-FM 105.5 and kilj.com will carry all the semi final and final games from the 2014 girls State Basketball Tournament at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines. Burlington Notre Dame will play Janesville at 10 a.m. Thursday and Mediapolis will play MOC Thursday at 5 p.m. in semi final action.
