Chamber honors Shottenkirk for exceptional facility
MOUNT PLEASANT—The Mount Pleasant Area Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday honored Shottenkirk Automotive with the Mount Pleasant Community Pride Award for exceptional property maintenance.
Shottenkirk Automotive General Manager Mike Anderson accepted the award from Chamber President Shelley Doak at the monthly Alive After Five networking event at Henry County Health Center.
The Chamber of Commerce board of directors created the Community Pride Award to honor businesses and organizations that maintain their properties with great care and to encourage other businesses to follow their lead. Winners are selected quarterly.
Shottenkirk Automotive has been an attractive gateway into Mount Pleasant since it opened at the intersection of US 34 and US 218/27 in 2002. In announcing the Community Pride Award, the Chamber of Commerce board of directors made note of Shottenkirk’s glittering metallic façade and immaculate showroom.
Shottenkirk Automotive installed LED lights throughout the building interior in Fall 2013. Energy savings from the project will yield a positive return on investment in just two and a half years, Anderson said.
“Our team takes pride in maintaining a beautiful facility that welcomes people to our community,” he said.
Shottenkirk Automotive was selected for the Community Pride Award from among several nominees.
“Shottenkirk Automotive is an obviously deserving recipient of the Mount Pleasant Community Pride Award,” Doak said. “In all the years that Shottenkirk has been in our community, they have continually excelled at maintaining an impressive building and grounds. Shottenkirk takes pride in the appearance of their business which ultimately shows pride in our community. Shottenkirk knows that the look of a business can have a direct impact on the appeal of a community, and the Chamber appreciates their efforts and commitment to this end.”

Chamber members wishing to nominate a business for future Community Pride Awards may do so by completing a form available at the Chamber Alliance offices. The same form can also be used to announce renovations and other facility improvements. This information will be shared with Chamber members and the local media.
