Charles C. Wilson, age 90 of Burlington, died Sunday May 11, 2014 at Mark’s home in rural Burlington with family by his side. The son of L. Ray and Grace (Kopp) Wilson, he was born October 6, 1923 in Morning Sun. He was a graduate of Yarmouth High School. He married Shirley Weinrich in 1943, they had two children and divorced in 1948. In 1949 he married Marjorie Brown, together they had five children. They divorced 46 years later. In 2001 he married Georgia Schmeiser and they divorced in 2006. He served in the US Army during WWII. He later owned and operated Wilson Well Drilling for 43 years, then enjoyed driving a tour bus for Trailways for 7 years. He was a scoutmaster for Boy Scout troop 67 from 1956-65, and he was a member of West Hill United Methodist Church.
Survivors include: his oldest son, Dennis Wilson of Burlington, his daughters, Connie Ammon of Burlington, Shelly Parsons of Dodgeville, Chris Nelson of Gladstone, Cathy Rauhaus of Mediapolis and his youngest son, Mark Wilson of Burlington; 11 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Charlynn; three sisters and two grandchildren.
A graveside service will be Tuesday May 13, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. at Elmwood Cemetery in Morning Sun, immediately following his family will meet friends at the Morning Sun Community Center until 11:30. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for Great River Hospice. Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Morning Sun is assisting Charlie’s family with arrangements.
