Charlotte I. Scott, 84, of rural Mount Pleasant, died Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at the Park View Care Center in Fairfield.
Visitation will be from 12 Noon to 9:00 PM on Friday, May 30 at the Kimzey Funeral Home, 213 North Main Street, Mount Pleasant. There will be no family visitation. Cremation rites will be accorded following the visitation. A graveside memorial funeral service will be held at a later date this summer at the Forest Home Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant.

Mrs. Scott, the former Charlotte Irene Felgar was born February 12, 1930 in Mt. Pleasant. She was the daughter of Lester and Mary Ruth (nee Jaggard) Felgar. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1948 and attended Iowa Wesleyan College. On January 15, 1951 in Waterloo, IA, Charlotte was united in marriage to William George “Bill” Scott. Mr. Scott died Monday, June 28, 2010 at the New London Nursing and Rehab Center in New London.
In the early 1950’s. Mrs. Scott worked as an operator for the telephone company in Mt. Pleasant. She then became a homemaker and farmer, joining her husband in nearly all aspects of their farming operation. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant, TTT Founders Chapter of Mt. Pleasant, Order of the Eastern Star New London Chapter #440 and Daughters of the Nile Pyramid Temple #10. She was a very active member of the Henry County Farm Bureau, serving as President and in nearly all the other offices as well as on several committees of Farm Bureau. With her husband Bill, they were names Henry County Cattlemen of the Year in 2001.
Charlotte loved to travel. She went on many trips and cruises with Bill, some just for pleasure and some to tend to the business of the organizations to which she belonged. Her trips allowed her to visit many countries over the years.
Those thankful for sharing in Charlotte’s life include a son and his wife, John and Marilyn Scott of Mt. Pleasant; 1 brother – Edd Felgar of Fairfield; 2 grandchildren – Carl Scott and his wife Dana of Mt. Pleasant and DeAnn Scott of Mt. Pleasant and her special friend Branden Harp of Ladora, IA; 2 sisters-in-law – Betty Felgar of Bunceton, MO and Helen Hauser of Glen Ridge, NJ; many nieces, nephews and great & great-great nieces and nephews.
Her parents, husband, 1 brother – James Felgar, 1 sister-in-law, Darlene Felgar and 1 brother-in-law, Harold Hauser, precede Charlotte in death.
