The MPHS girls and boys track teams captured the championships in the Southeast Conference Track Meet hosted by Fairfield.  The girls won for the 14th time in 17 years with 148 points ahead of Washington with 94.  The M.P. boys won with 130 points to capture the crown after not winning last year, 2nd place was Fairfield with 91.

Mary Wester won the discus 118’ 3” and the shot put 39’ 11”, Leslie Taylor took the long jump 17’ 7”, Chloe Haffarnan won the 800 2:21.2, Kelsi Phipps won the 100 meter hurdles 15.12 a conference record  and the 400 meter hurdles in 67.01.  The Panther 4×400 won in 4:25.5 with Hattie Liechty, Jenna Ludwig, Natalie Ita and Carolyn Lutovsky.  4×800 1st in 10:02.3 with Laura Holt, Hattie Leichty, Natalie Ita and Chloe Haffarnan.  The shuttle hurdle relay ran 64.51 a conference record with Sidney and Leslie Taylor, Hannah Becker and Kelsi Phipps.

 

The Panther boys winners:  Ben Canby in the discus 162’ 8”, Dustin Amos high jump 6’, Logan Murray won the 3200 10:26.32, 1600 4:42.5 and 800 meters 2:07.49.  Cole Phillips won the 200 23.38, Panthers took the shuttle hurdle in 60.53 with Trey Magnani, Zach Mulford, Blake Knudsen and Spencer white.  The 4×100 relay was 1st in 44.62 Trey Magnani, Spencer White, Pat Canby and Cole Phillips.

 

7th grade girls placed 4th overall at the Ottumwa Girls Invitational Track Meet.

1st place finishers:

200 m Hurdles  Maddie Williamson  33.09

100 m Hurdles  Maddie Williamson  18.14

 

Mt. Pleasant boys tennis team swept the Davis county Mustangs 9-0.  Zach Scmitz, Mathew Zihlman, Tyler Pace, Blake Wickham, Austin Meyer and Colton Schinstock won singles.  Doubles winners:  Schmitz and Pace, Zihlman and Wickham and Meyer and Schinstock.

 

Burlington beat the MPHS girls soccer team 5-0, M.P. is now 4-7.  Ft. Madison edged the MPHS soccer team 1-0 on the Bloodhound pitch.

 

The Southeast Iowa Super Conference track meets were held yesterday.  Pekin girls won the North title with 178 points, WMU was 4th, Waco 8th.  The North boys was won by Mediapolis with 157 ½, WMU was 6th, Waco 8th.

The Southern Division girls was won by West Burlington-Notre Dame with 164 pts., New London was 4th. West Burlington-Notre Dame won the boys title also with 173 pts., New London was 6th.

 

Columbus Community won the Southeast Iowa Super Conference boys golf team title with a 326 score, WMU captured 2nd 7 strokes back. New London was 4th.
