Football camp opens today for the Mt. Pleasant community School District. Players in grades 9-12 will attend camp 8 till noon and 7th and 8th graders at 1:30 today thru Friday. Official practice begins Monday.

Volleyball camp continues today and tomorrow at Mt. Pleasant High School from 4-6 p.m.

 

Mark Hankins, who has served as head coach of the University of Iowa’s highly-successful men’s golf program for the past seven years, has been named assistant to the director of athletics. The announcement was made Tuesday by UI Athletic Director Gary Barta.

In his new role as a member of the department’s administrative staff, Hankins will work closely with Barta and Associate Athletics Director Mark Jennings in the national search for a men’s golf coach, along with administrative duties as assigned. Hankins says he looks forward to continuing to be heavily involved in both the men’s and women’s golf programs and Finkbine Golf Course, while playing a greater role in the Athletic Departments stated mission of competing for championships in every sport.

Hankins is a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School and played collegiate golf at Iowa State. He coached collegiate golf in the Big Ten at Michigan State before coming to Iowa 7 years ago.

 

The Iowa Hawkeye wrestling team has announced their 2014-2015 season schedule. The Hawks wrestle Iowa State in Iowa City November 28th. The Hawks go to the Midlands Tournament at the end of December. They also will host two rounds of the Cliff Keen National Duals February 15th and 22nd. Iowa is coming off a tie for the Big Ten Conference with Minnesota and Penn State and a 4th place finish in the NCAA Nationals.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Mt. Pleasant USBC Bowling Association will be conducting the annual membership meeting Tuesday, August 19 at 7:00 PM at the Iris Bowling Center.  The meeting will include the election of Delegates to the State Conventions, High Score Awards will be presented along with other business to be taken care of.  If you have a concern or encouraging word…let it be known.
