The Festival of Trees “Holiday Dazzle” will be held at the Roberts Memorial Building in Keosauqua. It runs Friday from noon to 3 pm, Saturday from 8 am to 8 pm and Sunday from noon to 3 pm. The event is sponsored by the Van Buren County Lions Club and proceeds go towards Christmas for Kids.

The Mt. Pleasant Farmers Market Winter Market and Craft Show runs from 9 am to noon at 1200 West Washington, the McWhirter’s Showroom. Items for sale include baked goods, crafts and art, produce and fresh evergreens.

This is the last day to register for Business and Farm Succession Workshop from the Beginning Farmer Center. It will be held in the Washington County Extension Office on December 14th from 1 to 8 pm and December 15th from 9 am to 2 pm. Cost is $125 per family of four. Meals and materials will be included. The Calvary Baptist Church of Mt Pleasant invites you to their annual cantata “And On Earth Be Peace.” The performance starts at 5 pm and features music and drama. A dessert fellowship will follow at Calvary Baptist Church. This is a free performance

Mt. Pleasant Christian School has their Christmas Bazaar today. A Mission Trip Fundraiser Pancake Breakfast will be served from 6:30 to 10:30 am. Running from 7 am to 3 pm will be the Bake Sale, Children’s Christmas Shoppe and Craft Bazaar. A Dare 2 Share Soup Luncheon will be served from 11 to 2.

Winfield’s Tour of Homes and Soup Supper will be held today. The Winfield Betterment Group and Big Red Pride are presenting a holiday event complete with a soup supper, tour of homes, wine tasting, shopping and more. The Countreestore will have a wine tasting from 1 to 3:30 pm with local wineries. Five homes will be featured in the Tour of Homes, running from 4 to 7 pm. Tickets are $8 and are available in stores in the city, at basketball games or at the homes. A Soup Supper will be served at the VFW from 4 to 8 pm featuring homemade soup. $50 raffle tickets will be sold.

Main Street Cinemas presents the Holiday Merchant Movies. Shown today will be “Back to the Future” Saturday at noon and 2:30 pm and Sunday at 1:30 pm. Admission is by ticket only. Tickets are available at area merchants and KILJ.

Horse drawn carriage rides will be available for $1 per person and there will be a scavenger hunt bus. Also expect live windows, hot cocoa and more.

Nativity displays representing more than 100 countries will be on display at the Ainsworth Opera House Friday and Saturday from 10 am to 8 pm and Sunday from 1 to 5 pm. Admission is $5.

West Burlington United Methodist Church hosts a Cookie and Candy Sale from 8 to 11 am. Candy is $6.50 per pound and cookies are $7 per box.

The Yard Waste Collection Area of Saunders Park closes for the season at 5 pm today. Any questions, contact the Public Works Department.

The Help to Others Holiday Bazaar will be held in the Fellowship Cup Community Room from 9 am to 2 pm. Hot turkey dressing sandwiches, hot chicken sandwiches and bread pudding will be for sale. Numerous vendors will be selling their wares.

The Farmington Cookie and Candy Sale runs from 9 am to 4 pm in the EMS Building. Also, at the Farmington Community Center, there will be a bake sale and vendors with a variety of holiday gift options.

A Soup Supper and Santa Visit will take place in the downtown Birmingham Lions building from 5 to 7 pm. Cost is $5 for adults and $2.50 for children. After the meal, children can go the library for crafts, cookies and story time.

A Soup Supper with Santa will be held in the Cantril Township Hall tonight from 5 to 7 pm.

Mr. and Mrs. Claus will be at the Milton Depot for hot cocoa and treats at 6:30 pm this evening.

Mt Pleasant Music students who sold fruit, cheese and sausage need to pick up their orders this morning at City Carton between 8 and 11 am. This is the only time to pick up your orders, so if you are unable to be there yourself, please make sure to have someone there in your place.

Bentonsport annual Country Christmas is part of Christmas in the Villages, running from 10 am to 5 pm today. There will be door prizes, artist demonstrations, refreshments and more.

A Cotillion Club Dance with the Sally Weisenburg Band will be held from 7:30 to 10:30 pm at the Burlington Eagles Club. Cost is $10 for non-members. The public is welcome.

A St. Barnabas Choir Christmas Concert will be held in the historic St. Barnabas Chapel Saturday at 2 pm and Sunday at 5 and 7 pm today. The theme is ‘Tis The Season. The Montrose Joppa Lodge is sponsoring a soup supper by freewill donation from 4 to 7 pm Sunday at the Masonic Temple.

Relay for Life Team No One Walks Alone has a Christmas gift basket and gift sale at Kramer’s Gas in Salem from 8 am to 2 pm. All proceeds go to the American Cancer Society. Various gift items and food will be for sale.

The Mt. Pleasant Open Bible Church holds a Cookie Walk at the church today from 8 am to noon.

The Douds Soup Supper will run from 5 to 7 pm in the Community Center. It is by freewill donation.

Santa will visit the Winfield Library today. He will arrive on a fire truck at 11 and will visit for an hour. Children 3 and older can stay for a Parents’ Day Out, running until 4 pm. Bring a sack lunch and register at the door. Drinks and treats will be provided and there will be activities throughout the day. This is a free program.

Messiah Sing will be performed at 3 pm this afternoon in the IWC Chapel Auditorium. Sing Handel’s masterpiece. Tickets will be sold at the door, $10 for adults and $5 for students.

The Mt. Pleasant Public Library Children’s Department hosts a Christmas edition of its LEGO Club for third and sixth graders from 1 to 2:30 pm. Children can build creations while listening to Christmas stories. The library will supply the LEGOS. The program is free and no registration is required.

The Henry County Saddle Club holds their award banquet at 6 pm at Jerry’s Restaurant. Anyone interested in finding out more about the club is invited to attend.

Santa will be at the Salem Crew Library from 10 am to 11 am. Everyone is welcome.

Students in kindergarten through 6th can come to Van Allen Gym from 8 am to noon and do their holiday shopping with a Santa’s Helper; complete with gift wrap. Gifts range from $1-7 with a $30 per student limit. Gifts are available for the entire family. Parents can enjoy the Bake Sale. Monies raised go towards the Mt. Pleasant Elementary and Middle Schools.

Ainsworth Fire and Fire Responders Soup Supper is from 4:30 to 7:30 pm at the Ainsworth Fire Station. The meal is by freewill donation.
