Fire House BBQ Competition

The 2nd annual KCBS style Fire House BBQ Competition is today at the Houghton Knights of Columbus building. To enter there is a $50 entry fee. There are four categories plus people’s choice. To pre-register call 931-2998. There will be fire trucks on display for kids. There will be live music. All proceeds going to the Houghton Fire Department.

Riverview Games

Fort Madison’s Riverview Games are from 10 am to 2 pm at Riverview Park. They will attempt to break the world record for “longest human chain to pass a hula hoop” at 10 am. There will be children’s games and a sand volleyball tournament.

The 4th annual Rock for Autism will be held at Press Box. Live music starts at 9 pm featuring Doug Cowan, Quay Thomas Trio, The Treats and Albert’s Ride. Cost is $10 at the door. There will be raffle prizes and a silent auction.

Town and Country Days will be held in Mediapolis. A Lions Club Pancake Breakfast is from 6 to 9, the parade is at 10, an obstacle course will be open from noon to 4, Rivertown Band performs at noon, the Keynote Ladies’ Quartet at 1. The cornhole bag tournament starts at 1 as well. There will be frog jumps at 2, the Huletts perform at 2, there’s a pedal pull at 3, the cast of Annie performs at 3. There’s a community sing along at 4, comedy hypnotist Dan Ladd is on at 6 and world champion whip cracker Chris Camp and his Wild West Cavalcade performs at 7.
