    To kick off the Women of Wesleyan Week (WOW) at Iowa Wesleyan College, students, faculty, staff, and the community are invited to participate in a Take-Back-the-Night march on Monday, March 31, beginning at 7:20 p.m. Participants are encouraged to bring a flashlight and will walk from the Scheaffer-Trieschmann Residence Hall on North Broadway Street to Mount Pleasant’s Central Park in a demonstration of strength and resilience.

    Public Invited to Belle Babb Mansfield Symposium with Christie Vilsack

    As part of the inaugural events, the College will also host the Belle Babb Mansfield Inaugural Symposium at 7:00 p.m. in the IWC Chapel Auditorium with keynote speaker, Christie Vilsack, a Mount Pleasant native and former First Lady of Iowa. Vilsack will address Belle’s accomplishments as the first woman to be admitted to the bar in the United States and the impact Belle had on her life.

Washington Road, West Burlington. “First Friday Share” will include a short presentation followed by a potluck dinner, and visiting and sharing with others. This month a Great River Hospice nurse, Nancy Huppenbauer, will present the program. First Friday Share is not exclusive to families and friends of former Great River Hospice patients. Registration is not required.

    Henry County Health Center’s Diabetes Team will be offering an annual follow-up class Thursday, March 6. The class will be conducted from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and will be held in the Health Education Center at HCHC. On the day of the class, please register at the HCHC Registration Desk before proceeding to the Health Education Center. Call Laura Williams, RN, CDE, CCP, at 319-385-6518 by Noon today to sign up. The program is open to anyone who has Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes and has completed the 10-hour diabetes classes.

    Henry County Nature Center hosts a live reptiles program with ISU’s Rebecca Christoffel, a reptile expert. She will discuss snakes and turtles in Iowa including poisonous, endangered and why you can’t keep them as a pet. This is educational, for all ages and free to the general public. The program starts at 2 pm with doors opening at 1:45. It is sponsored by Wells Fargo Advisors.
