The Iowa Pork Industry Center and Iowa State University Extension and Outreach are teaming up to provide training for pork producers and others who need certification in the Pork Quality Assurance Plus (PQA Plus) program. Kids can learn to ice fish at an ice fishing clinic sponsored by Des Moines County Conservation this morning from 9:30 to noon at Big Hollow Recreation Area in Sperry. Stir It Up Around the World will be held at the Mt. Pleasant High School Commons. Participating will be the Culinary Arts Department and there will also be art displays, music and a meal. Appetizers will be served at 4 with dinner at 4:30 pm. Tickets are available at the High School or at Brown’s Shoe Fit. Adults are $15, children under 12 are $7.50. All proceeds go to the Culinary Arts program.

The IWC Concert Choir will present its 2013 Spring Tour Home Concert at 11 am in the Chapel Auditorium. The concert follows the annual tour and features a variety of choral music selections. The IWC Broad Street Connection, a vocal jazz ensemble, will also perform and Dr. Joel Brown will perform a piano solo. Admission is free.
