A Burlington man has been sentenced to more than six years in federal prison for illegally possessing firearms as a convicted felon.
Stone Thomas Graham, 26, was sentenced September 1st to 78 months in federal prison for possession of a firearm as a felon.
According to federal court documents, Graham possessed at least three firearms between August and November of 2025. Graham was prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition because of a previous conviction stemming from a November 2019 incident in which authorities say he discharged a firearm at several people, including police officers.
Graham was paroled on the state offense in May of 2024 and discharged from parole in August of 2025. Federal prosecutors say he began possessing firearms again just days after his parole ended. One of those firearms was reportedly the same pump-action shotgun involved in the 2019 incident.
Following his 78-month prison sentence, Graham will serve three years of supervised release. There is no parole in the federal prison system.
The Southwest Iowa Narcotics Enforcement Task Force investigated the case. U.S. Attorney David Waterman says the prosecution was part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a nationwide Department of Justice initiative that brings federal, state and local agencies together to combat violent crime.
