Mount Pleasant Municipal Utilities will need to shut water off Friday, 8-19-22, from approximately 9 am to 1 pm. The affected are will include the following:
- S. Walnut St. extending from the intersection of E. Washington to the intersection of Webster St.
- E. Webster St. extending from the intersection of Corkhill to the intersection of Walnut St.
- E. Clay St. extending from the intersection of S. Jay to the intersection of S. Walnut St.
The water shut off is to tie in water services from the recently completed water main project on E. Clay St.
Mt. Pleasant Historic Preservation Commission is having a garage sale on today & Saturday this week from 9am to 1pm. at 500 W Monroe. There will be old doors & windows and lots of misc.
Roundy Elementary and Columbus Secondary in the Columbus Community School district will hold Back to School Night from 5 to 6:30 pm.
Relay for Life of Henry County will be held in Mount Pleasant’s Central Park from 6 to 9:00 pm. There will be an opening ceremony, survivor ceremony, survivor reception and the luminary ceremony at 8:30 pm followed by the closing ceremony at 9 pm. There will be music by DJ PrayzHim. The community is invited to attend.
Mt. Pleasant Panther Meet the Players@ Maple Leaf Athletic Complex,6:30 P.M. – Mt. Pleasant Athletic Booster Club begins serving meals,7:15 P.M. Introductions of Cheerleaders, Players, Managers, and Coaches for Cross Country, Football, and Volleyball. At 7:40 P.M. – 9th/10th Scrimmage. At 8:00 P.M. – Offense practice run-through and at 8:20 P.M. – Kicking Game run-through.
The Old Threshers Summer Theatre presents the Neil and Caroline Schaffner play, “The Old Grouch” at 7:30 pm at the Theatre Museum on the north edge of the Old Threshers campground. Ticket prices are $10 for adults and $5 for kids 11 and under. Call 319-385-8937 or 319-385-9432 for more information or to purchase tickets. There is a show Saturday at 7:30 pm and Sunday at 2:30 pm. The play will also be performed during the 2022 Reunion. September 1, 2, 3, 4 at 5:30pm.
The Nature Center at the Oakland Mills Park will not be open Saturday, August 20 due to an electrical issue. It’s hoped the problem will be fixed so the Center can be open August 27.
