The Mount Pleasant Main Street Art Center is hosting Pinwheels For Ukraine. A portion of the $20 workshop fee will go to to support children in Ukraine.  To register go to mpartcenter.org.

Mount Pleasant Kiwanis Club, the Young Eagles, Air Advantage and the Mount Pleasant Airport are sponsoring an Aviation Celebration at the Mount Pleasant Airport.  A pancake breakfast will be served from 7:30 to 10:30 am for a free will donation.  Children can take airplane rides from 9 to 11 am.  Come see the airport and enjoy the airplanes on display.

The Mount Pleasant city compost site is open from 8 am to 5 pm on Saturdays and 1 to 6 pm on Wednesdays.  The site is located on Yocum Lane behind Saunders Park.

Washington County Master Gardeners will hold a plant sale at the Washington County Fairgrounds from 8:00 a.m. until items are sold out.  The plant sale will be held at the historic Palmer Polygonal Barn. Master Gardeners will be available to answer gardening questions.

The Cotillion Club announces the last dance of the 2022 schedule. Gary Richards and Mark Williams will play your favorites at THE LOFT in downtown Burlington, Iowa. Dance from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m., open to the public. Singles welcome. Cover charge is $12.50 per person for non-members, masks optional, snack food will be served.

Kiwanis, EAA  Chapter 700 (Experimental Aircraft Association)  and the Mt Pleasant Airport Are sponsoring a Celebration of Aviation. The event will take place at the Mt Pleasant Airport with a rain date of May 21. It will kick off at 7:30 AM with a pancake breakfast followed by free Young Eagles Flights for Kids 8 to 17 years old beginning at 9 AM and concluding at 11:00. Planes will be on display the entire time. So come join us!

The Mount Pleasant Historic Preservation Commission is hosting a downtown walking tour of the 16 buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places.  The tour begins at 10:15 am at the Main Street Theater, 115 North Main Street.  Prior to that, at 10 am, the 2022 Historic Preservation Award will be announced.

Visit the Harlan-Lincoln House for their May 14 Open House from 1-3 p.m.! Enjoy a new exhibit featuring the women of the Harlan-Lincoln House and some new additions to the collection, including a recently discovered portrait of James Harlan, the Harlan-Lincoln dollhouse, and a signed letter from Abraham Lincoln. Food and drinks will be provided.

The New London VFW Post 7641 will have their Catfish & Chicken Dinner from 5-7 p.m. Catfish $12/person, Chicken $8/person, Chicken all white $9/person. Dinner Includes: Roll & Choice of 2 Sides Sides: French Fries, Baked Beans & Coleslaw
