The Mount Pleasant City Compost Site is open from 8 am to 5 pm. The site is located behind Saunders Park at the intersection of Yocum Lane and Hoaglin Drive.

The Mount Pleasant Farmers Market will be held from 8:30 am to 11 am under Wright Pavilion in McMillan Park.

Head to Lockridge for a fun-filled day that the whole family can enjoy at Lockridge Fun Days 6a-4p today.  Some of the days events include a parade, kids pedal pull, BBQ contest, fun run/walk, water fights, live country music and much more! Today is a big day for the Red Flag Horseless Carriage Tour.  Participants will drive from New London to Brighton, re-enacting a historical event that occurred in England when the new-fangled horseless carriages no longer had to have a human walk in front with a red flag warning of the car’s approach.  There will be events at the parks in New London and Brighton.

The Montrose Library, at 202 Main Street in Montrose, is having a book sale from 9 am to 6 pm.

The Iowa DNR and the Henry County Conservation Department are holding a free workshop on trapping at 10 am at the Oakland Mills Nature Center.

The Mt. Pleasant Chapter OX of P.E.O. is holding a brunch, “Can We Brunch?” at the 1st Presbyterian Church fellowship hall in Mt. Pleasant. It will begin at 10:00 a.m., with brunch being served followed by a program. Tickets are $15.00 and are available from a chapter member and at the Mt. Pleasant Chamber of Commerce office. Proceeds go to our Chapter OX Scholarship, which assists a student who wishes to attend Iowa Wesleyan University.

Come to the 50th Annual St. John’s Harvest Festival at St. John’s Catholic Church in Houghton. Roast beef sandwiches and sundaes will be served starting at 1 pm. Grain Sales start off the auction at 2 pm. Get your raffle tickets to win $20,000 grand prize!

Henry County Heritage Trust presents “Using Find A Grave” by Paul French at 2 pm at the the Heritage Center Museum, 403 West Madison Street in Mount Pleasant. Refreshments will be provided.

New London V.F.W. Post 7641 steak and ham dinner from 5:00-7:00 p.m.

The Cotillion Club announces the first dance of the 2022-23 schedule. The Lyle Beaver Trio will play your favorites at THE LOFT in downtown Burlington. Dance from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m., open to the public, singles welcome. Cover charge is $12.50 per person for non-members, masks optional, snack food will be served.

Players Workshop, 1431 Grove Street in Burlington, presents MAMMA MIA! at 7:30 pm with performances, tonight, Sept. 25, Sept. 30-Oct 2 and Oct. 6-9. The Sunday performances are at 2 pm.
