Columbus Junction is celebrating Columbus Days today and Sunday.  The theme is “Bridging” recognizing the 100th Anniversary of the Swinging Bridge. There will be food, games, live music, a parade, bags tournament and more.

The Presbyterian Women will be holding a rummage and bake sale at the First Presbyterian Church, 902 S. Walnut St. in Mount Pleasant from 8 am to 1 pm. All items are 50 cents, unless marked. There will be a $2 bag sale from 11 am to 1 pm.

The Mount Pleasant City Compost Site is open from 8 am to 5 pm. The site is located behind Saunders Park at the intersection of Yocum Lane and Hoaglin Drive.

The Mount Pleasant Farmers Market will be held from 8:30 am to 11 am under Wright Pavilion in McMillan Park.

It’s Octoberfest in Donnellson.  There will be family activities, classic car cruise, bags tournament, axe throwing, food, music and more.

The Denmark, Iowa Congregational United Church of Christ is celebrating the 75th God’s Portion Day. Booths open at 10 am, the parade is at 10:30 am and the auction is at noon.  A chicken noodle or maidrite dinner will be served.  There will be music, baked goods, homemade candy and a quilt show.

St. Mary’s Fall Festival will be held in West Point in the Holy Trinity Gym. Auction starts 11:30 am.

New London V.F.W. Post 7641 serving ribeye or ham dinners from 5:00-7:00 p.m.

The Winfield Presbyterian Church 302 S. Locust, in Winfield,  will be hosting local renowned pianist Joel Brown in a Winfield Area Grateful Gathering event at 7:00 p.m.  Dr. Brown is well known in the area for the beautiful music he presents on the piano keyboard. A free-will donation will be received for future WAGG EVENTS. Everyone is welcome after the concert to the fellowship hall for some fall refreshments and social time with old and new friends.

Players Workshop at 1431 Grove Street in Burlington presents Mamma Mia! at 7:30 pm tonight. The Sunday performance is at 2 pm.

The Mount Pleasant High School Homecoming Dance will be held at the High School from 8:30 to 11:30 pm. The Royalty will be announced at 9:45 pm.
